At the ARA.

Here we are at the ARA, a place that is the most American you can get in Unganda, getting ready to tke Donna to the airport. Sad day for all of us!!!! We will miss her so much!!!!

We spent the last 2 weeks with her and spent more time with her than we have over the past year. Sad on our part. But she and we, were busy with our jobs and not that we didn't spend time with her, just never much one on one!!! She is so much fun and very interesting and a great young lady.

Traffic was light yesterday!!! Imagaine that Katie and Ed!!!!! But it took us4 hours to get to Mbale and the road wasn't that bad. Sorry about the van Al!!!! Just kidding. It had rained for about 5 hours, a hard rain and the culvert was flooded almost to the church-well not really- just half way there. We barely made it off the mission onto the road. But then it was slow and steady, not too bad, but careful slipping and sliding down the road. Then just after Monkey bridge a laury truck was stuck in the road. He went off the side with his passenger side wheels and got stuck in the soft mud. He was trying to miss a shallow mud puddle and slid sideways in the road. We could have gotten around him is his tail end wasn't in the mid of the road. Craig tried to pull him a bit But that didn't work, so they dug a bit and then he tried again and slid over some and we got in the van and drove off. We spent about 45 min. waiting there. The rest of the dirt road wasn't too bad, just slow going.

We stopped for a few min. at the Okkens so Donna could say good bye and then we on our way again.

If you think road construction is bad in the States, try construction here in Uganda. All of the 3o KM to Jinja after the Tryini road is under construction and getting worse instead of better.
